Kindertransport

by Diane Samuels

Kindertransport had 4 performances over 17 years ago (between the 2nd of April 2008 and the 5th of April 2008) at The Riverhouse Barn

Diane Samuels's moving and sensitive play explores the issue of identity and the pain and passion of mother/daughter relationships.

Eva is a young girl sent from Germany by her parents as part of the Kindertransport - the mass evacuation of Jewish children in 1938. As she grows up with her foster mother, she becomes more and more English and begins to deny her roots. It is only when her own daughter discovers old letters in the attic that Eva is forced to confront the truth about her past. The play is cleverly structured so that past and present intermingle. A challenging play with excellent roles for five women and one man.

A read through of the play will take place on Wednesday November 28th at The RDG Studio at 7.45pm. Come and hear the background to the play and plans for staging it. Hearing it read aloud is also good preparation for audition.
